Are you on Wireless?

And even if you are close to the server, that doesn't mean you have a good connection. It might be worthwhile trying a different server anyway.

On Ethernet, I'm not dropping any frames right now, could it be because the ping and jitter of the SF server are low right now?

Ping doesn't really tell you anything about how fast your connection to that server is, only how close it is. Choosing a close server is a handy place to start, but if that server is giving you problems, then definitely try a different one.
