Question / Help Dropped Frames from OBS

Hi, new to streaming, not gaming.

Here's my problem, streaming league of legends to twitch, and for the first hour or so, no problems whatsoever. twitch is holding strong at 768+ no downscale, 30fps, everything is perfect.

Then after about 30 mins to an hour, that little box in the lower right will go red and read 0kb/s, dropped frames jump up to 85% and the stream becomes not watchable. I've tried tweeking several settings, including the server i was streaming to, and everything in between.

I even uninstalled obs and re-installed. i had been streaming for about a month prior to this happening with no issues at all. now i can't get rid of it.

here's the specs from the comp im streaming from:
Asus Laptop
Processor: intel i5-3210m CPU @ 2.50 GHZ
Ram 4GB
OS: Windows 8 64 bit
VideoCard: Intel HD Graphics 4000

Well, this would explain why the dropped frames would be climbing indeed. I'm just not sure what could be causing those 2 errors in particular to surface.

Whenever this happens, does your Internet connection remain functional? For example, can you continue to listen streaming music during this phenomenon?

ya all internet function remains normal. i usually have spotify or nightbot.tv autodj running, and they do not get interrupted with the frame drop happens

I'm not entirely sure what could be causing this but I do have some suggestions:
  • Update your NIC drivers.
  • Disable the firewall on your AV if it has a firewall built-in, this is assuming you're behind a router. Most routers have firewall functionality and consequently, disabling any software firewall present on your PC should be harmless.
  • Reset OBS:
    • Start -> Run -> %AppData%\OBS
    • Empty that folder, without OBS running.

i seem to have stumbled onto what the problem is. I use comcast, and for some reason whenever i ran into trouble streaming, my upload speeds dropped to under 1mb/s. So i contacted them and even tried bypassing the router and connecting my comp directly to the modem, same results. Of course they do not see a problem on their end, so now i have to wait a week for a tech to come out.

ty everyone for you help and comments. hopefully i can have this resolved soon. saving all these results to show the tech im not crazy lol.
