Question / Help Downscaling 1680x1050 for 720p

Hey,

I'd like to know if there's a better way for me to downscale to 720p. My monitor resolution is 1680x1050 and the closest I can get using the downscale drop down menu in OBS is: 1120x700.

I have been using a custom resolution of: 1152 x 720 but I get some black borders on the sides (not hugely noticeable). I'd like to know if there's anything else I can do which will avoid the borders etc and get me a 720p stream.

Thanks!

Your monitor has a 16:10 resolution, this will never be able to downscale to a 16:9 resolution. You could slightly shrink your base resolution to 1600x900 and use a 1.25 downscale.

The aspect ratio won't be the same, and you will have to find a way to fill the black bar if you are capturing a full-screen source. But I suggest being creative. Either by filling it up with an image or some other source, or stretching out the source a bit so it overlaps on one side but fits on the other side. A last resort is to actually stretch the source without maintaining the aspect ratio (hold shift), but this is really ugly and should be avoided at all costs.

Thank you guys! I'll carry on playing around with it and see if I can become a bit more creative with my stream layout.
