Question / Help Dosbox + MT-32 + Open Broadcaster [resolved]

So I have a dilemma... And this has worked in the past but no longer works anymore...

I have Dosbox
I own software that I run in Dosbox
I have a Roland MT-32 and SC-55 Midi Synthesizers that Dos games use
I have them hooked up through my Aux 2 audio input
I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi
I have Windows 7 64-bit
I hear audio in Windows
I hear no audio on Twitch TV (who I stream to) from JUST the MT-32 and SC-55, nor see audio indication from those devices in Open Broadcaster

This used to work. It doesn't now. I can't seem to figure out how to make them heard to the world.

Help! (please :) )

Check to make sure the right desktop audio device is selected in OBS -- not sure why else that might happen. Perhaps if dosbox is using OpenAL that might be a probable cause, though if it worked because it should work again. Also sometimes USB headsets redirect sound and you have to select them in OBS' audio settings as the desktop output device.

The midi devices input into the PC independently of Dosbox. What makes Dosbox unique is it only emulates within it but when using midi with it, it just outputs the midi to your midi ports which then send to the midi device, which in turn send the audio to the Windows audio mixer and never feed it back into Dosbox.

So OBS should be picking up my Aux 2 audio but it won't. Ever. Even if I select it specifically.

0522 was the one it worked in. If I try and use that now it requires me to update before I can broadcast?

You should be able to decline the update.

Okay, I got it working. Apparently I have to select Aux 2 as the default recording device in windows control panel--but in order to do this, all applications currently using the existing default recording device must be shut down first or it will look like it was changed but isn't. In my case, Teamspeak was running every time so it'd switch the checkmark but not actually make Aux 2 active.

Once I closed down Teamspeak, switched the default device and started recording in OBS, it all started working.
