if not can obs implement it so there could be an option to play obs fullscreen at the scaled resolution setting. for example when playing through a capture card. scaled resolution is simply stretching the image while canvas resolution essentially does extra processing on the image to recreate it at a larger resolution if it's different from the source at least I think. I think itd be useful.
I use obs all the time for playing video games through a capture card and I just recently realized all im doing is viewing the source at the source resolution and then displaying it at 4k because the monitor's resolution is 4k. however although I suppose that's fine. It does make me a little disappointed since I have to turn down the fps for the canvas resolution to make it different from the source. this allows me to get the video to sync with the audio. I play the audio through the pc speaker of the game im capturing to make the audio on time. it works well but I always believed the reason it was so difficult was because the computer was upscaling.
but the main reason Id like to have the option is I livestreamed at 640 x 480 with a 720p camera(device resolution is also set to 640 x 480) and then downscaled the resolution to 320 by 240 for streaming. its just personal preference I think 320 by 240 can give videos an analogue feel. although it does help with making a stream more life. however on this particular laptop when Im streaming everything is much smaller than
when im using a different laptop. at least that's what it shows when im looking at in obs. Id like to know what the video looks like at the scaled resolution it's streaming at but I can't see it.
also I used to get better performance from the capture card when choosing highest fps when using the capture card. however the capture card displays a better picture using the device default setting than manually setting the resolution to 1080p. even though it outputs at 1080p when the resolution is set to device default. its too bad there's no way to use device default settings with everything but the fps. highest fps is definetly the best setting in obs for getting a responsive capture in obs. since fps in games and anything on pc is often a variable thing. it also helps with mismatches being the refresh rate of the tv or monitor your using obs on and the refresh rate of the source.
