Does OBS Studio offer basic recoridng?

Hi, this might be a bit basic question; I downloaded OBS Studio because I needed to record a talking head video of myself. Does it do this? (And ideally at 1920 x 1080). I have looked at the interface and it seems to be just for splitting a recording while it records the screen and has a video of the host in a small window on it. I just wanna record basic video.

I was using a Zoom meeting to record myself, but that doesn't let me completely remove my name - have to at least leave an underscore or full stop - which is then put in a rectangle, so it doesn't look professional.

Thanks

Yes, you can OBS record with OBS
No, splitting videos is NOT a primary purpose.
OBS is for compositing (ie combining/mixing/arranging) various sources, and is powerful at that. But, as in most circumstances, with power and flexibility comes complexity
For simple talking head recording, why not use Built-in OS tools? OBS isn't that hard to learn, but it will take a bit of effort. There are way simpler tools for simply recording a talking head video, with no overlays, etc. Just as Win10 has a somewhat hidden native video editor, you sometimes have to search to find certain features. A search on "Windows 10 record webcam" brings up a number of options, including using the native Win10 Camera app. Granted, the recording quality may not match what OBS can do, but worth testing first to see if meets your needs
