Question / Help Does downscale filter matter when using source or up-scaling?

The title asks the question. Although I have seen an increase in quality when using custom filters (for a specific element), I am wondering, when using the global filter (in video settings) if it makes a difference when using the source (base:1440; monitor res:1080) or up-scaling ( to 4k)?

You mean Scaling/Aspect Ratio from Effects Filter list or Scale Filtering per source option? Algorithm is the same, GPU processing.

Scale Filtering easy in use - click and forget. If you need exact numbers of the aspect ratio then use filter Scaling/Aspect Ratio.

The canvas to output resize controlled by Settings>Video>Downscale Filter. GPU processing.
