Hey everyone,
I thought I would find the most experienced people to ask on here. That's why I hope it's okay to ask rather hardware-related questions on here, as well.
I would like to start streaming - mainly for people who know me, friends and family. I'm not planning a full-time streaming carreer or anything, I'd just like to do it for fun (and have been wanting to and asked to do for a long time now). So far my current CPU has been stopping me from doing so, cause I prefer high, stable framerates for my 144hz monitors over anything else. And trying to stream while playing on my current setup simply put too much load on the system, what made it unenjoyable to play while streaming for me with that highly unstable framerate. Getting an unoverclockable CPU and board back then, simply was a bad choice overall.
Since my setup not only limits me when it comes to streaming, I'm planning to get a new system and use the parts of the old one for a dedicated streaming setup (if that would make sense at all) and use a capture card to get the image of the gaming rig to the streaming setup.
My current specs are:
-i5 3450 (non-K)
-gigabyte h77 d3h (non-Z)
-8gb ddr3
-525w psu
-radeon r9 270x
I'm planning to get:
-i7 6700k (planning to OC)
-z170 board
-32gb ddr4 (need for memory intensive software)
-elgato hd60 pro
already bought:
-600w psu
-gtx 1070
I would like to stream at 720p60 and am mainly playing Open World and FPS (high motion) titles. The question is, would it make sense and would the i5 3450 be enough in that dedicated streaming PC for my purposes? What would my other options look like, when I would like to have the least amount of impact on my gaming experience whenever I stream? Wouldn't mind spending some extra bucks, as long as it stays in a reasonable budget frame.
From my understanding it made the most sense (performance-wise) to simply get a good quadcore and let the old hardware do the encoding part. But would that be the smart choice? Or should I get a hexacore instead and run both (game and OBS) on the same system and don't bother with the second PC, hence cutting the idea with the capture card? Or should I even let the GPU do the encoding nowadays (which, I assume, would pretty much interfere with my gaming performance)?
I hope I found the right place to ask for advice and would really appreciate your help here, since I'm pretty much new to the whole matter and can't tell what would make the most sense in my case.
