Question / Help Do I have to sacrifice Streamlabs alert sounds for In-game echo? Also, vastly fluctuating bitrates?

If you can answer one or both of these questions, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm brand new to OBS, so i apologize in advance if this is a silly question. Basically, I use an elgato HD 60s and I have 2 scenes. One of those scenes only has my browser/streamlabs sources. I then use that scene as a source in my main (game) scene. I was told this "nesting" technique helps to boost performance and unencumber the cpu a bit. Anyway, my viewers noticed the game sound had an echo (most notable during in-game dialogue). I was able to get rid of the echo by muting my desktop sound. However, after doing this, my browser/streamlabs sources ceased being audible. Is there any way I can have no echo AND maintain sound for my web sources?

Secondly, I have my settings for streaming set to CBR, and my bitrate set to 3900. I noticed it jumps around from 3400 to 4100 while streaming. TMK, my upload speed (12mbps) is pretty static, and I did not see such fluctuations in xsplit.

Thank you for your time and insights.

Nesting scenes does not cause audio duplication. However having multiple browser sources for the same URL will cause that.

Thanks for responding, Osiris! My apologies, as I may have been unclear. To be a bit more concise: the issue is that when my desktop audio is NOT muted, my game noises have an echo (I believe this is because OBS is getting my game audio from both my PC AND my elgato hd60s). When I mute my desktop audio, the echo goes away, but then my browser sources are muted (as I'm fairly sure their tied to my desktop audio).

My goal here is to have no echo from my game and to still have volume for my browser sources.
