EDIT- Disregard the below. Newegg on eBay put the $280 Zotac 1660 ti on sale for $230, so I jumped on it.
I need to upgrade my GT 730 card and am using OBS with a capture card to record TV shows for archiving. I don't game or stream, and almost all of the reviews/tests for these cards deal with them for gaming or streaming. I know the turing chip in them is the best for HEVC, which I want to use with OBS since NVIDIA has partnered with them regarding use of HEVC. I'm currently using H264 in OBS and then transcoding to H265 using another program. The difference in file size is significant, and I have like 40 episodes/season for the show so every little bit helps.
The base 1660 runs around $210 and the base ti around $260, which is the absolute top of my budget. Among other differences, the ti has more CUDA cores, has GDDR6 vs GDDR5, and runs it at a higher clock speed.
I don't want to waste money buying a card that has features I'll never use.
Any thoughts on this? Thank you.
