Question / Help displayport/hdmi & 2 pc streaming setup?

i purchased a gsync monitor a couple of days ago, but might need to return it. i stream using 2 pc's, one for rendering and one for encoding. my issue is that my capture card will only pickup the signal from my hdmi connection, but nothing from the displayport. my obs studio source window is always my rendering pc's walllpaper, and not the game i'm playing on my rendering pc. my setup:

rendering gpu displayport --> rendering monitor displayport
rendering gpu hdmi --> encoding capture card input
encoding capture card output --> rendering pc display

is there a way to continue to stream using a 2 pc setup and without cloning my rendering monitor which forces both pc's into a 60hz/1080p mode?

i've tried using obs studio on my rendering rig to capture and projector preview to my capture card. adding a display capture (window and game capture will not work) does capture, but it immediately freezes in the capture window on the encoding pc. right now my two options are to either play at 60fps and at 1080p while streaming, or simply take the monitor back and go back to using a non-gysnc monitor right? thank you for the help.

edit: a displayport capture card is not an option at this time :)

You install OBS on both computers, and the NDI plugin on both PCs.

Now have OBS on the Gaming PC add a game capture, and add the NDI filter to make it's signal available via NDI.

Now have OBS on the Streaming PC grab the signal from the gaming PC via NDI.
