Display Capture source not working

I tried adding a Display Capture source, but whichever of the two monitors (internal or external) I select, there is only a blank screen (see screenshot below).

Depending on your Windows version and what sources you wish to use, you may need to set OBS to run on a specific GPU. Not sure which Windows version you have? Press Windows+R and run "winver". For Windows 10 1909 or newer: Open Settings and search for "Graphics Settings". Select "Classic App"...

FYI this is broken for desktops as well:
(tried all the options here)

..in combination with this option on/off:
gamemode.png

..and with these compatibility settings:
  • Run this program as an administrator
  • Disable fullscreen optimizations
  • Run this program in compatibility mode for:
    • Windows 8
    • Windows 7

Display Capture is always blank (although Window Capture works well in either BitBlt or Windows Graphics Capture modes)
 
Make sure your Windows 10 is up to date (2004). You should not use any compatibility options for OBS.

I'm up to date afaict:

The only available update is KB4577063 which is an insider preview released yesterday (I might install this later but I don't see anything GPU related in the release notes)

Thanks for the tip! Ok, I was able to get display capture to work by adding OBS to Graphics Settings and then forcing the graphics preference to "Power saving" (see attached screenshot). This, however, leaves me with some questions. Why wasn't OBS defaulting to Intel Graphics in the first place? Is it meant to run on a dedicated card? If so, am I going to lose anything by forcing it to use the on-board graphics? And last but not least, why the heck WOULDN'T display capture work on the dedicated card????

Hi I am struggling to get to this oint in your suggeste dsolution. I am not very good at windows and have managed to reach the display setting. I see the grayed out screen on the left and I clieck on browse to add OBS studio to the list.. However I am unsure how that is done. Would you be able to explain how one adds the OBS Studio to the windows?

SAME / Fixed, on HP ENVY w/ Intel 520 graphics, Windows 10 Home, "power save" fixed Display source.
