Discord with OBS

I recently starting making content on youtube with a friend. We both use obs and because of covid-19 we use discord to record our audio. He has no issues using obs while on call with me and recording our audio. I can't seem to hear him while using obs and the only time i can is when i remove the capture card im using. We both use the same one and even all our settings are exactly the same. I tried everything to fix the problem but nothing seems to work. Again the problem is hearing while im trying to capture gameplay

Make sure that in windows settings the output is set to your speakers/headphones

I did all that all my settings are assigned to the correct places. The Discord audio only stops when I turn on the capture card and it can't be the capture card because my friend has the same capture card but has no issues.

Could be a lot of things; even if you have the same capture device, it's unlikely that both of your systems (and overall software) are identical.
Could be anything from your system deciding to change the default audio device when the cap card is detected, to USB bus bandwidth choke of your audio device (if you're using a USB capture device), or a misbehaving wireless headset (several brands are known to behave very oddly in random situations).

Post a logfile where the issue occurred. So have a recording going where you can hear your friend, add the capture device, confirm you can't hear your friend, then end the recording and upload that logfile. We can take a look to see if something is going wrong on OBS' side, or if it's more of a system issue.

To be clear, can you not hear your friend AT ALL when this happens, or do you just lose their voice in the recording?

when i use my discord to share screen while streaming with OBS it will work for a while but after a short while the OBS crashes and i cant figure out why. does anyone have an opinion as to whatit could be. here are the things i have tried
1. restart pc - didnt fix issue
2. uninstall and re-install - no lucky there,
3. ran all virus checks and checked all drivers up 2 date - still no luck

i have looked around for this issue but i cant seem to find any videos on how to fix this. does anyone else have this issue. please let me know in the comments below.. i fixed my audio issue but i cant fix my capture card issue.
