Question / Help Disable desktop audio device

Hey all,

Would it be at all possible to disable the desktop audio sound?
The reason why I'm asking is, I like to stream my xbox gameplay through my Black magic intensity pro, and I would like my view only to be able to hear the xbox sound. The problem is I am using Ventrilo, and that also gets transmitted. So does any music I listen to, windows sounds etc.

I've tried everything but cannot find a solution. The only thing I can think of is adding an option to disable desktop audio device in the drop down menu.

Thanks for reading!

Keep up the good work!

I believe the test build versions have this option. If you're using the beta version, you can mute the desktop audio by clicking on the sound icon for the desktop audio.

When I mute the sound via the volume icon, the stream has no sound. However, If I right click and go to the properties of the source (blackmagic) and set audio to 'Output audio to stream only' instead of 'Output to desktop' then the stream has sound, sadly I don't though.

This should be fixed in the latest test version, it was indeed broken back in 0.472b because of an oversight with the audio source system.

Sorry, but it doesnt seem to be fixed, I always use the latest test version. Atm it seems you cannot stream sound from a capture card (BMIP) without the streaming hearing your PC sounds.

Oh wait, I see that you're trying to use "Output to desktop" with desktop sound muted. That's sadly not going to work, nor is it intended to work like that. I would suggest getting an audio splitter and use "output to stream only" while you grab the sound for yourself to hear from elsewhere.

Tis a shame, xSplit seems to work fine in this situation. It seems to be able to input the sound for myself to hear, and my stream without any PC sounds being transmitted.

Just wondering If anyone else has this issue while streaming using any type of capture card?
I just want to be able to hear the sound coming from the capture card, aswell as streaming this sound, without the watchers hearing my PC sounds.

At the moment, it seems from the options, I can either listen to the sound input along with my stream viewers (at the same time they can hear my PC sounds) or my viewers can hear the capture card sound only, and I cannot.

In xsplit, I use to be able to pick 'none' for the PC sound output, while streaming using my capture card so my viewers could listen to my xbox sounds without listening to Ventrilo, Mp3s etc.

Thanks
