I decided that I wanted to live stream via Twitch. I researched, signed up, and prepared. However when the time to test my stream came, I was blocked entirely from using Open Broadcaster Software by this message. I am using Windows 7. My system is updated. This is a desktop computer, not a laptop. I did go to the provided links to get DirectX 10. I downloaded and installed it. Still, I was met by this error message.
A concern I have is that I recently decided to get my computer fixed. It had malicious software. Anyways, after the computer guy I hired brought my desktop back and said that he had removed the unwanted software I tried streaming again. I am still being greeted by the same error message. I decided to search my programs and files for DirectX 10 but only found the dxwebsetup and "Start Google Earth with DirectX Mode." I do not know if my guy removed anything else related to DirectX prior to when I checked, but if he did he interpretted it as hazardous to my computer's health.
Either way, it did not work initially after I got DirectX from the Microsoft link provided from your FAQ page. And forgive me if I am wrong, but it just seems like it is a link to a version 9 of DirectX, not 10. I found some links that claimed to be downloads for DirectX 10, but it seems unsafe for my PC to download this file from another site that I have never heard of (and looks fishy) rather than from Microsoft, the link you provided.
The reason I decided to get your OBS was for the sake of live streaming both gameplay and a window for my camera. However, your software seems unable to do that right for some reason. I have followed tutorial videos and troubleshot the issue, but your program will not run my webcam. It certainly can and should be able to. My computer and the OBS detect the camera just fine, but the software will not run it to stream.
I have already live streamed successfully by simply using my Elgato program, but that will not help me stream my cam at the same time, which is why I decided to go with your software. To be fair, OBS is not the only one to have this issue, but to be honest, I am a little confused as to why I need to download some other software simply to run your software. If someone can help, I would highly appreciate it.
Thank you
