So I have downloaded and am have been trying OBS as a fraps alternative. I do not do live streaming and will only be using OBS for recording game footage for later editing.

I recorded some game footage (RIFT) to try to do some testing with editing and encoding for uploading. Here is the problem im having...

Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 does not support .mpeg4 files very easily and when I import a recorded file into Premiere it imports the file at 1000fps. This is okay because I can change the file back to 29fps but however when I do this I basically lose all the audio. I don't want to go through the trouble of ripping the audio off each clip and importing it that way...

Is there a way to record footage and encode it in something other then .mp4.

Thanks

Turn on CFR (constant frame rate) in advanced settings when you are wanting to use such video editing programs.

Well it can be recorded in .mp4 and .flv but i don't think it would change anything if you used .flv. CFR is the huge problem solver. Constant Frame Rate. By default OBS uses Variable Frame Rate to reduce some cpu usage as streaming doesn't really need constant say 60fps. If the game ran 45-60fps and you record/stream 60 it records the same fps as the game runs for every frame. When CFR is on, OBS doubles some frames to get 60fps even if your game was running 47.

But video editors dont like variable fps so CFR must be used.
