Question / Help Device Driver for Canon HV10, HDV camcorder

Does anyone know how I might go about creating a device driver for OBS such that my Canon HV10 will work as a video capture source? Right now I have to use VLC's DirectShow capture mode to select my HV10, then I just capture the window with OBS.

The lack of DV capture for cameras is because there's no code to handle it, it's definitely OBS' fault. I'll see what I can do about buying that device and implementing it myself at some point.
