Desktop audio sounds like it's coming through a tin can

My last obs recording with normal sound was on may 3rd. The next recording, and every recording after that since May 9th the desktop audio sounds like it's coming through a tin can or something. I don't think I've changed any settings. I tried deleting OBS settings and even downloading an older version, and still no success. The only thing I can think that has caused this is a windows update, a graphics driver update, or a logitech update of some kind but idk. Is there some way to troubleshoot this issue?

Please post an OBS log from a recording or stream Also, check your audio devices in Device Manager to see if there are any issues

You need simple stereo speakers with 3.5mm jack.

There is number of threads on the forum with similar issues:
The Logitech G933 Gaming Headset device is not the best choice for capturing.
From other threads (for example - https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/surround-downmixing-support.54686/) on this forum I can recommend to avoid "surround" devices for capture if you not running OBS with surround output (OBS Audio configured to output 5.1 or 7.1).

By the way, OBS v29.1.2 is available.

Here's a 10 second recording I did of a youtube video so you can hear the difference in audio.
Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDrFommpCuE
My recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-XP--fLjH0
The Log: https://obsproject.com/logs/HhfsHf2ffqGTDyZN
And I don't see any issues with the audio devices
Good sound.
I thought it was good too.

That said, the description of "tinny" could be similar to what I had when a solder joint broke behind the patchbay of this rig:
No actual connection anymore, so the volume dropped a lot, but still so close that it formed a good enough capacitor to pass "something". That capacitor, combined with the input impedance of the next thing downstream, formed an RC highpass filter, so only the very top end got through. Crawled behind and re-soldered it, problem solved!

Bro, you saved me. Disabling surround sound in the logitech g hub headphone settings fixed my problem 100%. Sounds so much better. I don't even remember when I enabled surround sound, but I guess it really messes with the OBS sound.

I generally don't like it when marketers of sound boards call stereo "2 channels" and 5.1 "6 channels" for the purpose of making a more impressive overall channel count. For that purpose, one fader = one logical entity, and should be counted as such.

However, this is definitely a case where you really do need to consider it as that many separate wires. So you have 6 or 8 wires in and 2 wires out, or vice versa. What happens in between? You just found out.

Like I keep harping on in this forum, KNOW YOUR RIG! Inside and out. Mixing and matching different standards can give you some wacky results sometimes.
