Desktop audio not working.

I cannot seem to get audio to come through on my recordings. I have "Desktop Audio" added to "Sources." I have "Desktop Audio" on the Audio Mixer. When I select Desktop Audio on Sources, I can select the "Device," which I have 6 choices, but I just want what whatever is coming trhough my computer speakers, so I assume that to be "Default" or possibly "Speakers (Realtek USB Audio)." However, the sound meter does not register anything when I have (for example) a YouTube video playing on my computer. Also, if I actually record a video and play it back, it has no audio. I've tried uninstalling OBS, reinstalling it, making sure I have the latest version (30.1.2). I've tried all of the other "Device" on the drop down but nothing affects the "Desktop Audio" sound meters while I have audio playing on my computer.

As a troubleshooting measure, I downloaded and installed Bandicam. Right out of the box, the application sets the audio source as "Default Output Device" which is set up as "Speakers, Realtek USB Audio." And Bandicam can record video and audio, no problem. I don't want to use Bandicam, (although I could) but that app seems rather rudimentary compared to OBS. I've been banging my head on this problem and it's probably something simple I've just overlooked, but I give up and need help. Thanks!
