Desktop audio not working

Hey all,

I'm having an issue where my desktop audio capture has suddenly decided to stop working. OBS is still capturing audio from my microphone, it's just desktop audio I'm having issues with. I've tried changing the default audio device in OBS from Default to my headphones (my primary device) and back again, verified that the sample rate in OBS matches the sample rate in Windows settings, I've tried the trick of turning Windows Sonic on and off, set all devices to "monitor off" in advanced audio properties, turned off all exclusivity of my primary device in Windows settings, even tried uninstalling and reinstalling OBS, all to no avail. My Windows is up to date. Log files show that OBS is not having trouble connecting to or initializing the audio device. I'm stumped - anyone have any ideas?

Been having the same problem also. Audio mixer is showing that desktop audio is getting sound but on stream only mic is getting picked up. Audio gets picked up on stream when I close obs and start the program again.

I never trust global audio device, disable it and add to all scene Audio Input Device (microphone) or Audio Output Device (remember select correct device who play your audio).

Thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately, I tried it and it's still happening.

Well, we just have to keep digging to find the resolution. So, let's take a step back -

When was the last time it worked?
What changes (if any) were made to the system/obs when it stopped working? (not including t/s)
Have you tried to create a new profile and new scene collection in OBS?
When you re-installed OBS - did you remove all traces of the file from Windows before re-installing?
Was it a new OBS installer or an older version that was updated?

Hey all, just wanted to pop in and say that I managed to fix this - somehow (probably during a Windows update) my manufacturer's audio driver had been uninstalled and replaced with a generic one provided by Windows. Everything seemed to be in order and I hadn't noticed that my PC was even using a specific audio driver to begin with. I got fresh drivers from the manufacturer's website, and after a reboot we're good to go. Thanks for the help everyone!
