so i am having problems with my desktop audio. it was working before the most recent update and now i'm lucky if i get waves showing at all. I've re-downloaded obs a few times and I've switched audio sources between 1 and 2 but nothing seems to work.

I would assume he means the audio monitoring green line in the audio Mixer sources

Please do not recommend that users switch to Classic. Is is deprecated and no longer supported. I've removed the part of your post with the suggestion. If you're not sure, sometimes it's best to just not reply.

There's not a whole log of information in your post or your log.

Can you explain a little clearer what you mean?
What video player are you checking the recordings in?
Have you validated all your device drivers (USB, sound card, etc.) that might be affecting audio are fully up to date?
Try getting a clean log file from OBS that shows a sample recording, and if possible, provide that recording to us for examination.

To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

hmmm you also removed the older obs studio versions post of mine....
Which I suggested because he stated ' it was working before'

Also not supported of classic still works - its just in case back up if things aren't working on studio - if you don't want people suggesting to test on older obs because of issues on newer versions then simply hide the download button from the download page.

It feels wrong deleting anything on my post, its just for him to test if it works on either older studio versions or classic - its a valid helping post. Not everybody notices you can download older versions to test

OBS Classic is no longer updated, maintained, or supported. It doesn't matter, and anyone switching to it will not receive any support. Suggesting they switch to Classic is akin to telling them to change their shirt when their pants are stained. It doesn't help. You're just guessing, as you haven't seen any logs or had any clarification on what exactly the issue is. The biggest fallacy is that things "work better" on the older versions. That's just not true at all, and there's always a logical explanation. It boggles me that people have this attitude that things get worse every patch. You also aren't looking at the big picture here, and we need to make sure that the message being delivered by these forums is consistent. I removed the part of your post suggesting Classic because it's harmful to the community, and to us as a whole. We can not, and will not, do anything to keep people from using Classic, but we will do our best to send the message that Studio is the better choice.

I hope you can be understanding of that.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I never got the alert sent to my email and just thought no one responded. I am still having issues with OBS studio 64bit. I have discovered that 32bit works fine but if you could help with figuring out why 64 bit is not showing waves or recording desktop audio, that would be awesome.

I hope this helps.

Can you go back and answer all of my previous questions?

I don't see anything that jumps out as being wrong in the log.

You can also make sure that exclusive mode is disabled for all your audio devices:

To disable Exclusive Mode, right-click the speaker icon in the System Tray and select "Playback Devices" or "Recording Devices," right-click on the audio device you want to change and select "Properties," then go to the "Advanced" tab and uncheck both checkboxes.

That didn't work. I'll just use the 32 bit version. At this point i just wanted to find out why it wasn't working at all.

Can you explain a little clearer what you mean? The desktop audio bar just doesn't show any audio coming through at all. like the levels bar isn't moving.

What video player are you checking the recordings in? VLC

Have you validated all your device drivers (USB, sound card, etc.) that might be affecting audio are fully up to date? I just updated my audio drivers from 2016, i dont have a sound card.

That should be all your questions. and above i showed you the new log from 64 bit.

I'm honestly not sure. If you verified that exclusive mode is disabled on all your audio devices, then there is likely some sort of incompatibility or bug with the audio device's 64bit drivers.

OBS simply uses WASAPI (window's sound API) to ask a device to give audio, and if it works in 32bit it's very, very unlikely to be an issue with OBS.

I wish I had something better to tell you :(

its ok. thanks for trying. it worked up until the latest update and hotfix so i don't know what happened. 32 bit works so it will have to do. other threads were saying that there isn't much of a difference.

- Go update your Realtek audio device drivers for your computer manufacturer motherboard and keep them always up to date. In your case, you need audio drivers updated for Realtek.
09:23:07.084: WASAPI: Device 'Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)' initialized
09:23:07.093: WASAPI: Device 'Microphone (2- AT2020 USB )' initializ

- Check the Advanced Audio Properties for the audio sources and make sure audio is being output for the source.
- Check that you don't have the mute button enabled
- Make sure you aren't using an audio filter that is causing an output problem
- If in the OBS Studio Audio category, check to see if Desktop Audio Device is Enabled

I disable everything in the Audio device dropdowns (desktop audio, mic/aux audio) and use only Audio input source and Audio output source to take full control.

When I was trying to record on OBS, the green line is never showing up and so I looked at the Advanced Audio Properties, it appears as the bar for balance wasn't appearing
