Hello,

I am currently running a 2 pc stream setup. The computer that is running the encoding has a fx 8320 in it and struggles to run at medium doing 720p60. I was looking into x264 encoding and how it works and it seams to be that the more cores/threads that you have (up to 24 threads) the faster it will encode and therefor the better the stream will look. The PowerEdge that I am looking at is the one linked below. Could anyone give me their thoughts on if running obs and encoding with this computer would be practical?

To compare the power of CPUs, use benchmark sites like https://www.cpubenchmark.net
Beware of that Dell computer. That's a rack mount server system, to be mounted in a server rack together with 40 more units of the same size in a server datacenter. It's a giant pizza box-shaped flat slab that is as loud as your hairdryer in 50 cm distance. The only situation where you will not hear this hardware is when it is switched off or while you are doing vacuum-cleaning your house.

That is fine as all my streaming computer is routed out to my garage with my mining equipment so noise is not a problem. The main question is would it be possible to install windows 10 and run obs on a system like this? Also would obs utilize 2 cpus?
