Question / Help Deinterlacing

Hi there,

I am using OBS for one of my clients, and I would really like to stick to it, as it is simple and intuitive, and has a lot of useful functions.

However, I have a problem - every time that there is movement, there's a STRONG wavy pattern on the image, and looks very much like a deinterlacing problem.

However, I have searched for nearly an hour, and there's nothing interlacing related in OBS.

How can I solve this?

I use OBS to go live with a semi-professional TV Full HD Camera. HDMI input on perfectly functional USB capture device. The capture device gets it right, the problem is OBS.

This would be really difficult at the moment, as I am not at the location, being one of my clients, and I also forgot to install the damn Team Viewer again. :)

Is there no other way to get help with this? It will take a few days until I will be able to provide a log.

Do you remember how you configured OBS? I mean, settings?

I did most of the modifications to try and troubleshoot the problem, it's 99.9% on default settings. The only settings that should be non-default are Video Capture Device's video input set to PAL B and Resolution/FPS Type on Custom / 1920x1080, as "Device Default" gives an out of range error.

I have tried PAL/SECAM/NTSC standards, different resolutions, different FPS timings, color ranges, color spaces, pretty much anything there is to set, and there are still wavy patterns on motion.

The capture device's software (Avermedia Video Grabber Live Gamer EXTREME GC550) shows perfect image with default settings, so I am certain that the signal that goes in OBS is good.

I see that you already found the option to deinterlace 'Video Capture Device' source: Deinterlacing mode descriptions. It was introduced to OBS Studio v0.14.0.
Right click over the 'Video Capture Device' source>Deinterlacing>choose any filter that differ from Disable.

Thanx! I did check out a lot of programs for converting VHS, wich have deinterlacing. But I didn't check menu of OBS.
But I knew up Natron, Lightworks (both are very difficult) and Davinci Resolve ($300) and ShotCut (a lot of Bugs). All of them have deinterlacing for VHS old casets. And of course Avidemux is the most simple and free, but it can not save BT709 color space.
So I think that it will be very happy if somebody develop plugin "Inport Natron filters to OBS".
I tested all deinterlacing filters in Avidemux, and I found that Yadif is the best deinterlacer. And OBS has option to use Yadif!!!
But StreamLabs OBS dot't have this feature.
