Hey,
Long time user of OBS (classic) and now Studio and really liking how far it has come thanks to all of you.
To describe my setup, I switch between a few different audio devices, both for output and input; there's my motherboard's Realtek sound card (speakers and desk mic), a USB one (single sided headset with mic, only for chat), and headphones with mic with my Xbox One controller. I have configured it (in Windows' manage audio devices section of control panel) so that the default device changes based on what I'm using at the moment i.e. Realtek is default, unless I plug in my headset in my controller which then becomes the default. Plugging in the USB chat headset changes the default communications device (both playback and recording). I've set all my chat applications to use the default communication device so they follow the changes I make over time.
Now onto the problem; setting "Default" in any of the audio device slots in OBS picks the correct device, but if I plug in say, my headphones, and it is now the new default device system-wide, the change is not reflected within OBS unless I restart OBS. It's almost like there's no difference between specifying the current audio device and setting to default. I think this is a bug, but this maybe intended behaviour so I'm not completely sure.
I hope you'll considering making it such that OBS follows system-wide changes to the default audio devices.
Thank you!
Edit: As a workaround, I tried a different approach to using the audio devices; I removed all audio devices in settings and I added all my devices as audio output and input as sources in a scene. This was working great until I closed OBS and opened it again, because all the devices it did not find connected, reverted to the default device so there were 2 out of 3 audio devices (in my case), that reverted to default, essentially recording the same audio in triple. It seems audio sources do not have a "device disconnected" state like the settings page has.
