Hi Everyone!

How good of a PC would I need to build to stream at 1080P @30FPS / 720P @ 30FPS? Would I need to invest a lot?

I want to possibility build a dedicated streaming PC as my main looks like its not powerful enough. or should I just upgrade to an I7?!?

Thoughts?!?

Curent Specs:

  • Processor - 3.4GHz Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge
  • RAM - 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
  • GPU - GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB 256-bit GDDR5
  • Mother Board - ASUS P8Z77-V LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Hard Drives - Samsung 830 Series SSD (128 GB) & (256 GB)

Thanks!

If you have to buy everything for the second pc, an upgrade to an i7 could be cheaper, but in general your current pc would be a good streaming box for such resolutions. It actually doesnt need such a powerfull GPU but the processor would be perfect.
720p30 is doable with an older quadcore as well, but for 1080p you might need an i5 processor 2nd generation or later in a dedicated box.

Well for your current board you should get an i7 3770K for example, so you dont have to upgrade it. You could also later overclock the cpu then. I am currently on a 4770 and have enough free room to play bf4 and stream at the same time.
You could of course also get an i5 4*** + new mainboard, and keep your current i5 to build a dedicated box, if you then later need to upgrade your main pc, you could probably still get an i7 for the new board. But you also have to calculate a capture card and stuff like a PSU that is needed. So you should calculate which is cheaper for you or serves you a longer purpose :)
