Question / Help Dazzle not showing up in Audio Input Device

I bumped a similar thread about this looking for assistance, but I'm not sure if it'll get overlooked because it was a bump of an old thread so figured I'd put a fresh one out there. I am not sure why, but I cannot get my dazzle audio to work with OBS. I know others that have gotten it working, and everything is set up the same as theirs except that when you go to set up the Audio Input Device, Dazzle isn't listed, just my microphones. I tried amarec and had the same issue, dazzle wasn't showing up in audio devices.

The dazzle audio works with the pinnacle software that came with the cap card, and I can use VAC to get it working, but the quality is terrible and there is a delay that increases over time, so obviously I don't want to resort to that. Any and all suggestions on how to get the Dazzle Audio Device to show up under Audio Input Device would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Everything is set up properly in the cross bar. I am using Windows Vista 32 bit.

Sorry, but this (the desynch) is a known issue in the cases where the Dazzle audio device doesn't show up as a DirectShow compatible device (it shows up as a Windows audio device instead), and there's nothing that can be done. The Dazzle is, by now, pretty much unsupported by Pinnacle, and they've never actually updated their drivers to fix any of the bugs that are in there.

A few somewhat better USB 2.0 composite/s-video capture devices can be found if one looks hard enough for them, but they're typically a lot more expensive than the Dazzle.

However, even if you got the Dazzle sound to work over DirectShow, it would distort at times instead of desynch. I would honestly just recommend just passing the sound through over ANOTHER line-in device, such as the port on your sound card.

Okay, so I have also been trying to pass the audio through another line in device, specifically my headset (and then have my OBS broadcast my headset sounds), however when using Audio Repeater, it will not allow the sound to feed through to my headset as my headset is in use as my windows default audio device. Is there any way I can feed the audio from the Dazzle into my headset so that OBS can broadcast it?

You can listen to the device in Windows, but as you've already noticed, it's going to desynch sooner or later.

How do I listen to the device in windows? I managed to use Audio Repeater to feed into stereo mixer and for OBS to run that sound, and I can play like that with about a half second delay which is tolerable, the problem though is some crackling sound/buzzing. Is there another way to listen to it?

You listen to a recording device by opening Windows' sound settings from the control panel, then right clicking the device in the list, selecting "Properties" and then check the "Listen to this device" checkbox on the "Listen" tab of the settings.
