Question / Help Dazzle DVC100 Audio

Hi,

I am having issues with getting a broadcaster getting audio from a Dazzle DVC100. They are able to select the Dazzle in the audio selection portion of the Video Capture Device settings.

When using the "Output to Stream Only" the volume bar does not register any audio, and the configure button does not open a dialog when pressed. Windows does not register it as a recording device, and there is no audio in the Windows audio mixer.

When using the "Output to Desktop" the volume bar does not register any audio, and the configure button does not open a dialog when pressed. Windows does not register it as a recording device, and there is no audio in the Windows audio mixer.

The physical setup is a SNES RCA output to the Dazzle's input. The Dazzle then outputs RCA audio and video to the TV (this works), and USB to the PC. The audio on the TV works, so we can verify that the SNES is outputting audio.

Anyone have any experience with this specifically or suggestions of a next step to try?

Note: I suppose I can have her try to split the RCA out of the dazzle and take one of the outputs and convert it to 1/8" stereo, but this seems like a bad workaround.

Ok so basically what I know for sure is that using a dazzle to record comes with alot of problems. One major one is the audio for EVERYONE. From what I have heard from various people you need to download another video and audio capture software called amarectv to get it to have audio.

I have just started streaming with my dazzle and I did this. But for me I haven't been able to make it work. But I know that it's supposed to work. Plenty of dazzle streamers use it and it works fine for them. After you download it and then install the program the amarec audio should show up in your audio settings of your dazzle. Let me know if this works for you. I know it's supposed to work I just can't seem to get it myself. If you look on big streams like cosmowright you will see he uses amarec so I know it works.

Hope you can get it. And if you can shoot me some tips lol

The Dazzle has always had this problem. It's a driver issue, which is unlikely to ever get fixed, but there are at least two workarounds. The Dazzle messes up its own audio settings when the device initializes (starts capturing) for anything but Pinnacle's own DVD recording software, and it also loses its Crossbar device association. These are the workarounds:

1) Use AmarecTV, pass video and audio through to OBS, either using sound playing on the desktop, or the Amarec Live audio line of your choice. Once you have the Dazzle capturing in the Amarec window, right click the main window area and from the "Input & Channel" submenu, select either "Composite" or "S-Video", depending on which input you are capturing from.

2) Crossbar Thing. (http://www.apehead.se/crossbar_thing.php)
This will allow you to open the crossbar for the Dazzle and select the proper audio/video input to use. To fix the Dazzle's audio, select "Dazzle DVC100 Crossbar" in the list, then click the "Open selected crossbar" button. Then open the dropdown menu on the right, select "1: Audio Decoder Out". The dropdown menu on the left side of the dialog should now be empty, this is the problem right here. Open the left dropdown menu and select "5: Audio Line In", then click OK or Apply. You should now have sound playing from the Dazzle in the application you're using it in.

I have ameractv downloaded but i have no clue what you mean. everytime i bring up amerac tv it just tells me i have no game capture source.

Well, I did say "Once you have the Dazzle capturing in the Amarec window." There are plenty of other place with info on how to get started with AmarecTV, you could probably even check the old "Deinterlacing for console games" topic in the guides forum for that.
