Cut transition - small gap between two clips

Hello,

when I switch from media source "A" - mp4 file - to another media source "B" - mp4 file - via hard cut, I see a black image in the program output window for a fraction of a second.

I use for the transition e.g. a color screen, everything is okay.

this small gap between the two clips can only be seen with hard cuts.

Is there a setting that guarantees a clean, hard cut?

Many thanks for your help

I couldn't reproduce your error under that circumstances:

- using OBS 26.1.1 under win10-64,
- Made two fresh scenes in a 1920x1080 29.97fps rendering,
- took a single (different) mp4-file to play into each of these scenes,
(sources are 1920x1080 too),
- made a recording using repeated manual hard-cuts to mkv,

--> no black gap seen in the PGM control monitor,

- remuxed that mkv to mp4,
- opened and searched frame-by-frame with Davinci Resolve.

--> no single black frame found at one of these scene cuts.

Could you proove on another machine than yours and/or provide more information how to reproduce that problem, please?

Do you have "unload 'A - mp4' checked or unchecked in the properties for the specific sources? if so uncheck it, having that option checked will create a delay when it is visible. This sounds like what is happening.

I've attached an image to show what I mean, except it isn't for a video source but an image source.

Hello,

there is a single one frame black between Clip A and Clip B when i use Cut-Transition.
This Black frame disappears when i set properties of the clip to "don't show when playback is inactive".
Tt is precisely this property, that the last frame of the video clip remains visible, that makes it easier for an operator to cut between two clips without there being a frame with no content.

obs is really great and i admire the work of the programmers very much and i hope that there will be a solution to this problem soon.

Hi!

I know it's an old topic, but it might be useful for somebody later.

I had the same problem. In the properties of the Media Source I checked the option "Show nothing when playback ends" and it solved the problem (in version 27.2.4).
