Question / Help CS:GO on external monitor not showing in stream

I have a laptop and I use an external screen for gaming. I've only tried to stream Minecraft and CS:GO. Minecraft gave me no issues, but when I try to stream CS:GO, even when the window is detected it will not show up in my Stream Preview or in my Stream. Yesterday I got it to stream after a lot of trial and error of opening and closing programs and windows at different times and it only began working after I rebooted my computer, had OBS open on my external monitor behind the game with a sliver on the laptop screen so I could see my stream. Could this be a bug with external screens on laptops? What can I try to fix it?

It could be related to the quirky way that laptop drivers can be. Especially when you have switchable graphics (intel integrated for power saving, nvidia for gaming/performance). I'm assuming your laptop is set up correctly as well so that all graphics programs use the nvidia, right?
