Question / Help cross-platform program - record and code

Hi all,

I've written a small program in Java to review and code video using VLC (is that a swear word here?) - see http://bit.ly/1jxuMeJ - and now I want to add capture capabilities. VLC isn't that great for this (on OSX, at least) and I've been having issues with GStreamer and Xuggle (are those swear words also?). There is something similar - longomatch - but I've also had issues getting the source to run on OSX...

Is OBS something I could consider for this job? How might I best approach it?

I might not be clear on what you're actually trying to do...but you might want to look into libobs (included in obs-studio): https://github.com/jp9000/obs-studio
