So for some reason, every time I stream or record in OBS I get this weird mic crackling issue. I've tried so many methods of getting rid of the issue and nothing works. I even bought a different mic and I still get it. Nothing is capping out in task manager either. I also have a limiter on my mic/audio. I don't get the issue in any other program. Has anyone else got this issue before?

Usually this is because your audio buffer size is too big for your audio interface. In most audio interfaces, there is an application that you can bring up to change this buffer size. That application is installed when you install the audio interfaces' drivers. On some audio interfaces, this is available in the Windows tray.

For example, on Focusrite Scarlett, it looks like this:

On RME and other higher end audio interfaces, there should be an audio settings options available. Consult the manual for your audio interface.

The smaller the buffer size, the less latency. You have to fiddle with this size to find the right value to avoid crackling.

Also, don't rule out your cables. They may be the problem as well.

So I just use a plug n play mic with obs. I don't have any external programs besides OBS. Is there a way to change my buffer size in OBS or Windows? I didn't find anything like that in the sound control panel.
