Question / Help Cpu spiking on OBS

Hey!

Im streaming some firefall from time to time and i have a issue with obs cpu usage going crazy from time to time.
I can stream fine fps of the game and on the stream are fine not droping any frames or anything and after a couple of min the CPU usage of the obs.exe skyrockets from steady 30-40% to 75-80% cpu usage. Got any ideas why it would do that? And its just OBS cpu usage that goes insane.

5-6 mins fine then 1 mins with insane cpu usage on obs then back again.

The cpu usage of the encoder is supposed to be spiky depending on how many scenecuts are detected. it's not as big of a deal for the powerful cpu's but that's the normal behavior.

If by painful you mean your in game frame rate then you can try setting the game process to a "high" priority from task manager. otherwise lower the video fps.
