Bug Report CPU Overload and encoding lag

I've been having trouble getting OBS to record videos without overloading my CPU. I've lowered my video rescale output to 960x540, lowered my FPS from 60 to 30, and disabled 2 pass encoding all to no avail. I've also tried disabling my firewall and setting avast to game mode, with no improvement.

I fear my CPU (i7 4820k 3.70GHz) might be bottle necking OBS, I'm not sure why OBS would have trouble with my CPU though, considering my computer can record footage at 1080p 60FPS lossless avi with fraps, but I'm new to OBS so for all I know that could be a very real possibility.

Encoding lag when using nvenc ends up being a likely case of video card overload or the card being in the wrong pci-e slot.

Post a screenshot of the first tab of gpu-z.

Aside from the video card, what other cards do you have installed in the system in pci-e slots?

My apologies for the late response. I only have one pci-e slot in use, and it is for my GPU. everything else is on-board.

Then you may not have it in the right slot. It should be in the slot pcie x16 #1

plugging my GPU into the first pcie x16 slot did improve the performance slightly. it fixed an audio sync issue. however it still gives the CPU overload warning and drops almost half the frames due to encoding lag (still running at 960x540 30FPS)

interestingly enough, OBS classic can record 1080p 60FPS like an absolute boss, no problems what so ever. I might try some of the older versions of OBS Studios if I can't get the newest version running properly, although I don't know how big of a security risk that would be so I'm not going to give up just yet.

If you have any more advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Strangely enough, this session ran great. I'll probably try upping it to 720p 60fps and see how it goes.

the llhp preset might be that little bit too much.
