I'm looking for a single CPU (AMD or Intel) around or less than $500 that can handle 1080p 60 fps streaming with the x264 CPU Preset set at either 'slower' or 'slow'. This will be for a streaming PC that will be used alongside my current gaming PC that's i5-4690k can't handle anything lower than the 'faster' x264 CPU Preset in 720p 24fps. Any help is super appreciated!

betweeb faster and slow is a huge difference in cpu taxing

and i actually doubt that you can stream 1080p60 with faster preset and game at the same time on an i5 only if you were using qsv

and even for a dedicated streaming pc theres no cpu which can handle 1080p60 on slow preset at around 500$ especially not from amd.

lets say one pc setup (gaming/streaming) with an i7 4930k 5xx bucks 6 core hyperthreaded cpu oc'able to around 4,3ghz each core without a real problem would also need a at least +150$ 2011 socket mb and still can only handle 720p60 @ fast preset without huge performance decrease while playing games like bf4 and every xeon cpu with 8 core and ht are starting at around 1k$

The best I've done is 720p 24fps with faster with my i5, I didnt clear that up, I cant do veryfast 1080p 60fps with my i5 lol, let alone any slower, thats my bad, should have said that, i'll edit the op

it depends on the game sure you could probably stream 1080p60 and maybe some league or any other game which doesnt really tax the cpu that much but the amount of bitrate you still have to give it to achieve a decent quality is just way too high

There is not a CPU that exists for under 500 bucks that is capable of this. Streaming 1080p60fps is a complete waste of time anyway, I recommend dropping that goal.

gotcha, thanks for clearing that up for me, do you know which benchmarks I could look at that would give me an idea on which CPUs will perform compared to others?

not really ... but when it comes to raw encoding power nothing beats an intel

for your needs in 500$ range since you are already running haswell, the best upgrade would be an i7 4790k you would even have money left

else a i7 4820k on 2011 socket which is probably a tiny bit better for encoding since its quad channel supported and so on but is it worth the to spend it extra on an good mainboard

you could also go with an dedicated streaming pc, but that would be a bit more than 500$
