Error: Could not initialize DirectX 10 on AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series. This error can happen for one of the following reasons:

1.) Your GPU is not supported (DirectX 10 is required - note that many integrated laptop GPUs do not support DX10)
2.) You're running Windows Vista without the "Platform Update"
3.) Your video card drivers are out of date

If you are using a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus or AMD Switchable Graphics, make sure OBS is set to run on the high performance GPU in your driver settings.

(Running Windows 7)

I have been using Open Broadcaster to stream to Twitch for a while now and haven't had any problems. When I tried to stream today, I got this error message. Like I said, it has been working fine for me until today.

The only thing that has happened between yesterday and today was that Windows Update installed "Cumulative Security Update for IE 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2929437)".

I have searched this message board to see if there was a solution and found none. Any ideas?

That's very unusual. Reinstall drivers, reinstall directx, restart computer? I'm not entirely sure why such a thing would occur to that sort of video adapter. It's definitely very unusual at the very least.

Rolling back my video card drivers did the trick.

Windows 7:

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager
Find your video card under the Display Adapters heading
Right click on it and choose Properties
Go to the drivers tab and click "Roll Back Driver"

This worked for me.
