Question / Help Corrupted Video

So I was recording some friends and I playing a game.
But during the recording OBS crashed.
I want to to play the file but everything seems to be corrupted, yet the file still has the size and length of a normal file

Is there any way at all to fix it?

And before you ask, no, there's no way to recover the corrupted file. It's a pile of digital trash. Just delete it.

MP4 uses an 'atom' at the end to describe the rest of the file; bitrates, framerates, all of the relevant format data. In some cases a similar file can be used to salvage a template atom and insert it, but as each OBS output file is unique, the best you'd be able to do would be occasional clips of video and audio at the wrong playback rates.

Short version, FLV really should be the default, and recording to MP4 likely removed. I've had recording to MP4 actually be the cause of a crash, when OBS was trying to write out the finalization on an extremely long video.

Corrupted files can be recovered as long as you use the proper tool. If your MP4 is corrupted, then you must first make a back up of it. And then use a video repair tool to get it fixed. There are many tools available out there.
