I have video capture device, game capture, and window capture all on their default settings, and i can see myself and the game I am playing just fine, however when I complete the video and open it up with windows live movie maker, the only thing that shows up is a black seven second long screen. sorry I don't know much about my laptop, it's an HP with a built in webcam. Thanks.

OBS records in MP4 or FLV format. Movie maker does not support FLV format. For mp4, make sure you have the proper codecs installed. Download VLC and launch the video through it. If it played in VLC, then its Windows Movie maker that's the problem.
