Question / Help Constant CPU Encoding Overflow

I have tried using OBS for a couple of weeks now, but each result I get, or each option I chose, or the videos and tutorials I watched to find an answer, no matter what, I would always get told I had an encoding overflow, as if my PC couldn't handle software from 1998.

If anyone could let me know if any sort of setting is preferred or if there is any way to use this software at all, I'd be happy to know.

Your CPU cannot handle encoding and gaming at these settings at the same time. You may be able to workaround that by using the AMD AMF encoder instead, since your GPU is much newer than your CPU.

Read this guide on local recording for some basic info on recording settings. Consider taking one or more of these steps in OBS Studio:
  • Reduce your recording FPS to 30
  • Reduce your recording resolution to 1280x720 (Settings > Video > Output (Scaled) Resolution)
  • Limit your game capture framerate (Game Capture settings)
  • Change to Simple Output Mode
  • Change the encoder to AMD AMF (upgrade to OBS Studio 0.16.2 or latest, and then grab the latest AMD AMF plugin)
Also consider reducing your game settings.

Unrelated to your problem, you shouldn't record directly to MP4. If you're using single-track audio, record to FLV. If you're using multi-track audio, record to MKV (or some other container that supports multiple audio tracks). You can then use the OBS Studio remux feature to change them to MP4 if you need them in that format.
