Question / Help Constant Bitrate (CBR)

OBS studio is simple and straight forward, if you want to live stream use CBR, but the bitrate is not actually constant, it is just averaging around that CBR number you put in the settings which means that its jumping lower and higher of the number you have put in the settings which sometimes leads to bandwidth peaks and increasing ping times for a second etc.

I tried calculating and playing around with a Custom Buffer size but that only manages to keep it a bit more strict if the buffer is a lot lower which results in a bad quality live stream, so that is not a solution.

I am aware that there were settings such as CBR Padding and Strict CBR in OBS Classic and other streaming softwares to help this issue, so my initial question is...

What happened to CBR Padding and Strict CBR after OBS Classic moved away from support and is there a custom setting parameter to use those again in OBS Studio? If those options are not available, what is the best way for achieving Strict CBR without quality loss?

You cannot avoid any and all impact of streaming on your actual gaming. Capturing and streaming is heavy stress for the PC and network infrastructure. You cannot avoid feeling this stress.

Use defaults, apply best practices. Don't try to fine tune each and every configuration item found in a configuration dialog. By trying to micro-manage everything, you most often have the reverse effect: you make things worse instead of better. Defaults, for example the simple output mode of OBS, are there for a reason. They are the best practice, bubbled up in years of trial and error, the result of years of experience. Use them.

The time when defaults were the least common denominator is over: today, they are the best configuration you can get in most of the cases. And "most of the cases" does include you.
