Bug Report Connection Latency Issues while playing...

Hello,

I've recently switched from xsplit to Open Broadcaster and so far it's been great, but there is one show stopper issue for me so far that I've found. While streaming HoN(as Software Capture, I run HoN in Borderless Window), after about 10 minutes or so sometimes I start lagging really bad while in the game. The lag goes away immediately when I turn the stream off. I never got this in-game lag from running other streaming applications though.

My upload speed is 4.2 megabits/sec.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
16GB RAM
i7 870 @ 2.93 GHZ
My screen resolution is 1680x1050
I stream at the resolution of 2.0(840x524) which is smaller than the resolution I normally use for xSplit.

If anyone has any advice on maybe a fix or something that I don't know about, please let me know. :)

Anyway, other than that the software is great, I love how it doesn't take 10 years to start up like xsplit does.

Using pastebin.com or pasting it directly on to the forums is far more preferable to a compressed file. Typically just one log file where you have the problem is fine.

The encoder as well as the encoder settings of my application are not identical to that other app, so just because you set the same values doesn't necessarily mean you should get the same results. First, try lowering your quality value and seeing if that helps. Having a high quality setting can typically cause your connection to push at your bitrate. Set it to about 3-4 less than what you would typically use in that other streaming application and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the info Jim. I'll take your advice and see what happens, I just assumed bitrate was pretty generic and would work the same across all applications, but I guess I was wrong heheh. I'll be sure to pastebin next time if I run across the issue again.

Maybe try just setting your buffer to the same as your bitrate. There's actually very little reason to have it set that much higher.
