Connecting to alternate YouTube account/channel

I have been using OBS successfully to stream our church services for a few weeks. However, I have realised that the Live stream is appearing on the Tech account we use for the streaming computer, rather than our main Church YouTube channel. The tech account has access to the main account / channel as a Manager.
I cannot see how to configure OBS to connect to YouTube using our tech account, but then stream against the Main account.

When connecting using the Tech account name, I then get the "Select Broadcast" option within OBS to select the Broadcast stream for that service (I set up several broadcasts in advance & need to set up all our Christmas services at once for the tech team). If I change the connection to use the stream key for the stream set up on the main YouTube account, I then loose the ability to select the Broadcast I want to use . All of the Broadcasts I have set up use the same streaming key, so I don't know how OBS would know which Broadcast to "make live"?

Is anyone able to provide any assistance on resolving this conundrum. As we are rapidly approaching Christmas, a quick response would be very greatfully received.

make a new profile in the profiles menu in obs, switch to it, then go to settings - stream and connect your church channel to that profile.

Hi Harold,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that does not work for me as the tech team do not have the credentials for the account that "owns" the YouTube channel; as the account is used for other work as well. That's why the tech account was created and made an editor of the YouTube channel. I assume, if OBS was connected to the main channel account, that account would have to be used to schedule the broadcasts in advance (which would require sharing the credentials), rather than scheduling using the Tech account when connected to the main channel account.
As YouTube provides the functionality to allow another account to create streams etc on the channel; I had hoped that OBS would also support that functionality?

Why can you not do everything with a single account? Seems to me like you're making a Rube-Goldberg machine.

We can't use the single account which owns the YouTube channel as it is used for other church administration functions and some documents and communications are confidential, so the tech team cannot have access to them - which they would have if we use that account.

If you can't use one exclusively, how about the other?

At any rate, it sounds strongly to me like you've painted yourself into a corner, possibly by adding band-aid after band-aid when what it really needs is a step back and reorganization with all of the requirements that you now know.

If I am able to get OBS to connect to the account that "owns" the main channel, will we need the credentials anywhere else - does the connection to YouTube "time out" & need re-verification? The tech account is an Editor (manager) on the YouTube channel & can schedule the broadcasts in advance (so the channel owner account details do not need to be known). Will OBS (when connected to the main channel), be able to select these broadcasts?
If there is no requirement for needing the credentials anywhere else within OBS, and having entered them will not allow additional access to the Google account, then I can request for the account to be configured in OBS.

What happens if you create different stream keys for each one, and then don't have OBS log in at all?

Just tell OBS to stream to YouTube in general - no account - and give it the now-unique key for the one that you want to use. Do everything else in a standalone web browser, including creating and copying that key to paste into OBS.

You might have a reason to have multiple different broadcasts set up, but we've never seen that at my church.

We don't schedule anything. We just use the one persistent stream that YT keeps for us, and I eventually deleted the scheduled one. We only maintain the concept of "a livestream", singular, and our people know how to get to that. So if "we're streaming", they go there. Period. We try to have 15 minutes of leader, live, to give people that time to find the same thing in the same place again.

And we use the stream key. OBS is not logged into our account. Just start throwing data at that key, and our stream starts. Stop the data, and it times out and resets, ready to start again with the same key. It's that easy. The reset also triggers the DVR function to make a finished video out of the data that it got.

How would either of those work for you?

AaronD Thank you for those suggestions. We are fairly new to the "live stream" as we previously used Zoom, so I will have a look into those suggestions. The initial advise I was provided (by a contact at another church) was that setting the broadcast up in advance (usually a Friday) allows subscribers to be notified of the upcoming stream; and also anyone else who's looking for an online service.
Thanks for all you advice, its certainly given me a number of options to investigate.

Yes, it does. But do you need that? We don't, that we've found. We're regular enough that our people just know, without the advance notification. It still notifies them that we're streaming now, which (usually!) happens 15 minutes before the service.

...and also anyone else who's looking for an online service.
I think the history of weekly streams to watch now, should be enough of a pattern to tune into the next one. Especially if you put the start time in the leader like we do:

Thank you for all your suggestions. It has certainly given me several options to take to the staff & tech teams for discussion. From this I believe we should be able to reach an appropriate solution.
