Connecting Smartphone via OBS to Facebook Live

I have downloaded the Iruin app on my phone and the software on my laptop. I have checked that Device manager and my browser settings are correct. OBS recognises the phone. When I try to connect to Facebook live I get "Camera issue". If I open Facebook live without OBS it recognises the phone. Any ideas

If you have probs using this app try a more generic way by using obs.ninja.
There you get an url to use within a normal browser source in obs.
A passphrase or code can be set to protect the access to your resource.

I'm suspecting you are confusing connecting to Facebook live altogether (maybe)
1. Make sure you know how to connect OBS to Facebook, and that you can test and confirm streams work
only after getting #1 working
2. Configure your system so you can see smartphone camera on OBS preview screen (beware Studio mode dual rendering unless you have a really powerful PC).. You WON'T be connecting to Facebook on phone at all (not sure if that is what you meant)
Using wireless is almost always something to avoid, so beware a Wi-Fi connection from smartphone to Wi-Fi PC and Wi-Fi back out to stream... can be done ... maybe, something highly prone to not working (and unless you are a network engineer you may not be able to troubleshoot)..
so for starting out, do yourself a favor and use a wired Ethernet connection to stream [even if only to test]

Thank you for your reply. I want to "live Stream" on Facebook via OBS using my smartphone as the audio and camera source. I have changed the settings in my device manager and on my browser, I have also followed all the necessary changes in OBS.
When i switch on OBS I get a picture and indication that audio is working.
If I switch on Facebook live (with OBS switched off) I get perfect visual and audio.
If I try to Live stream by connecting to OBS then Facebook, Facebook does not recognise the cam.
So in summary, in isolation both OBS and Facebook live recognise the smartphone but not when OBS and Facebook live are connected to each other. There must be a way. Using my Smartphone gives me the best audio

Ok, so it sounds like you are using the WRONG Facebook settings for OBS.
I only use Facebook's Scheduled Videos, so there may be some slight differences, but when I set up Live Video, at the top of the FB /Live/Producer web page is an option for "use Camera" or "Use Stream Key" (and a 3rd option/box I don't recall as I never use). For OBS, you need to use the Stream key option.
Have you followed Facebook's instructions on getting a Facebook stream key and entering that into OBS? I do not use a Persistent Stream key for security reason, so I copy a new stream key for each session.

For Step #1 I mentioned, ignore the smartphone for now (literally, do NOT connect/use smartphone to PC for this test AT ALL)
Add a Source in OBS that is either a picture or pre-recorded short video video. Try streaming with that and seeing video live in /Live/Producer

If I am using my Smartphone or my integrated camera I still get the same problem. If I open Facebook and press facebook live I get a picture when i open OBS no picture in OBS. It is the same result if I open OBS first. I always copy and past the stream key. I can get a picture in both OBS and Facebook live if I use my camcorder, but the audio is no good.

Nigel - sorry, but this is technical, and words matter. so you need to be careful in how you describe your situation (and frustrating volunteers isn't likely to help you). For example, Do NOT say something like "I open Facebook" as that is grossly imprecise. Instead indicate along the lines of
- If I open the Facebook App on my smartphone (that is specific)
or
- On my Windows 10 PC, using Web Browser (X? Chrome, Edge, ?? - be specific as it might matter. Facebook has shown different options to different browsers at times related to this), I open a certain URL [which, be specific ie https://www.facebook.com/live/producer/]
The above are very different technically, even if they seem the same to you. And unfortunately, you really do need to know and understand the difference

With that said, be clear in what you are doing
1. Get smartphone camera image video on PC, ideally visible in OBS
do NOT start Facebook on smartphone as you are NOT sending video feed from smartphone to Facebook. You appear to want to send smartphone video image to OBS [not Facebook]. And then set up OBS to stream to Facebook
So like I said above,
- Get OBS streaming to Facebook - sounds like you go that working. Right?
- now get smartphone video in OBS [
Did you get this working? if not, streaming is pointless, as your OBS / PC setup for getting smartphone video feed must be addressed first . you have to have your OBS Source working [smartphone camera in this case], before you can stream it.
- Be sure you understand how to enable/disable sources in OBS. In OBS, in the Source List there is the 'eye' icon (or whatever its called) that enables display/sound of each source on/off
I'm suspecting the issue is in this step. NO where above have you indicated you have the smartphone camera video feed displayed inside OBS preview window.

Once (and only after) getting smartphone video feed displayed in OBS, THEN stream OBS to Facebook
- note you don't touch or do ANYTHING on the smartphone at all at this point [it is already sending video feed to OBS per prior step]

I am sorry if my descriptions are not specific enough and might frustrate volunteers, I am a singer not a technophobe. Adopting a talking down attitude does not help either.
I have downloaded the Iruin app and the webcam drivers from http://iruin.com.
having opened OBS I select a scene and select video capture device and find iruin and select. My smartphone is visible.

In my Facebook page I select Facebook live, at which point I get a "Camera issue" warning.

So as a non technophobe it would appear that although OBS has connected to my smartphone Facebook live does not recognise it.
I hope this is concise and detailed enough.

That is expected and as it should be. Facebook is doing exactly what you are asking it to do. Why?
You are asking the Facebook system, via your web browser, to use your locally attached camera, direct from the Operating System ... which Is NOT what you want to do. Right? Assuming I understand you correctly, STOP using "Use Camera" in /Live/Producer
Read my post above. I'm guessing you are using the "Use Camera" which is the default selection .. which is wrong for OBS.
For Facebook to handle/process the incoming video stream from OBS, you MUST choose "Use Stream Key"
