Question / Help Confused on where Media Source audio is going

Hello, I am amazed by OBS.. I have been using it for almost a year and it's rock solid.

Bear in mind I'm using this in tandem with VoiceMeeter Banana and have all the audio going through it.

So my question is: audio sources playing internally in OBS (Media Source) cannot be monitored. They don't show up on any VoiceMeeter buses (including VAIO) and I can't drive it to any headphones, but oddly enough this audio appears on the VoiceMeeter B1 bus and outputs correctly to my streams/recordings. What is Media Source audio playing to?

Here are my OBS audio settings:
Desktop audio device: Disabled
Mic/Auxiliary Audio Device: VoiceMeeter Output (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO)

The media source only outputs to the stream/recording. Use Audio monitoring to listen to it.

OK, so there is no way for Voicemeeter to monitor the Media Source audio?

That's fine but I just want to make sure I understand how it works.

I use voice meter banana as well. Can you show me how you have setup your voice meter banana? I am not very sure what your asking here and what you mean by monitored. Do you want to be able to edit the audio source before it comes in to OBS? You can definitely take game audio and edit it (make it sound louder or quieter) before throwing it into OBS as an audio source through use of virtual audio cables and Audio Router to assign the audio to the cable.
