Compressed image support, sound notifications for captures.

I feel like only doing PNG is old school now, and is very wasteful on space, is there the possibility of doing at least jpeg support, it would be such a basic low effort feature to add but I am sure appreciated by many.

Also I have via some custom scripts I found added sounds every time a screenshot is made and recording started/stopped, and the quality of life improvement from this is huge, massive game changer, as no longer not sure if a recording started or stopped properly. (has happened in past). Sure would be another low effort thing to add.

until that feature is natively added, you can use https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/better-screenshot-plugin.2428/ it allows you to save the screenshot as jpg or webp, not sure if adding a sound on screenshot would be quite alright in OBS Studio because if you capture desktop audio you'll just end up hearing that sound in the recording

PNG is still used because it’s lossless and predictable across platforms, but you’re right that it’s not space efficient for most screenshot workflows. JPEG (and ideally WebP/AVIF) support would be a practical addition for users prioritizing storage and quick sharing.

That’s true but still impractical to use png over jpg in this case just to save some pixel quality PNG is for illustrations, JPG is for screenshots, pictures and wallpapers
