So I recently upgraded my mobo and processor (intel i7-4970 and asus Z97-a) with 16gig RAM, and a GeForce GTX 650 (used in old computer). I am running Windows 7 64bit (but using 32 bit OBS)
My old mobo/processor was about 6 years old. I could use my Elgato, but it was really hard on the processor and couldn't keep sync, etc, but it never locked up the computer.
Since putting together the new system, when I am using my elgato with OBS, it typically goes anywhere from 1-3 minutes and then it completely locks with the computer, requiring a hard reboot. Occasionally, the lock up is replaced with a BSOD that hangs up before it completes the dump
I can use OBS without elgato with no problem whatsoever. Additionally, I can use ElGato's native software at 1080p 30FPS and it doesn't lock up. So, it definitely seems to be the combination of the two, but I think there might be something in the hardware or possibly BIOS or even maybe software that is causing the lockup. I am just completely stumped as to what it might be.
I would be thrilled with any thoughts anyone may have as to what is causing this. I've tried multiple source inputs (2nd computer, source computer and iPad) and the results are the same.
