Question / Help Compatibility Mode

I'm sure everyone else already knows it. I'm afraid I'm going to have to be that one newbie.

I was reading this for help on the black screen issue.

https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/laptop-black-screen-when-capturing-read-here-first.5965/

It mentions "Compatibility Mode" needing to be turned on before running the recording.

I must ask: How does one turn on "Compatibility Mode"? I've clicked each of the items in the upper toolbar, and couldn't see the option for it anywhere.

Pardon my newness.

It's a checkbox on the properties for the Window Capture or Display Capture source.
When looking into the source properties the only prompts I have are to choose screen and to show the cursor, that's all

I still need it to display capture on my laptop. How can i get around this then?
If you are using Win10 1903 or later, here is the updated method for GPU selection. Microsoft changed it so you can't just set it in the nVidia or AMD control panel any more.
