Comp crash, mkv file is ok, but can't scrub through, can anyone help?

Hi, I have a large recording with OBS in mkv format, unfortunately computer crashed, leaving the file able to play but I can't move forward back in time. What can I do to fix the file if anyone has experience with this? Thank you!

You can try to use the muxer in OBS to remux the mkv to an mp4. This is just a copy from one format to another, there is no re-encoding involved. File->Remux Recording. Select your mkv file.

Thank you, I'm currently unable to, but I will try that later. I think I tried it before on a similar mkv, but it didn't help. Is there another quick app that can repair so it can play completely and have its full length in the file description etc? Thank you so much

You can try using ffmpeg's copy function: ffmpeg -i input.mkv -c:v copy -c:a copy output.mp4
