Question / Help (closed (I fixed it)) videos recorded with obs don't play or are getting sort of datamoshed (see video/error log)

hello I'm taboo.

today I recorded several videos.
I can't see the footage when I open the video in windows movies and tv.
when I open the video in sony vegas the video gets distorted and sort of datamoshed.

I never had this befor

please help

ps. VLC works but I have to edit the footage and that doesn't work

Don't record in MP4 directly. If anything happens abruptly the MP4 file becomes bricked. Use FLV (or MKV for multiple audio channels) to record and remux the file in the drop-down menu on OBS.

I havent gotten any answer that works and this tread is drowning so I'm doing a BUMP

Post the OBS log file from a file you recorded with OBS that won't open in Vegas. Also post the media info from the same file.

Vegas more than likely doesn't like lossless video nor high444p profile / 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. Use any other rate control method and 4:2:0 subsampling. If you insist you need that high quality, you need to find a better NLE.
