I have just found out that our HDMI cable to our projector is faulty. Is it possible to use Chromecast as a quick/emergency fix until we can run a new cable in, if so how would I connect the output?
OBS does not have Chromecast functionality, but VLC does. As a hack, you could have OBS output into VLC using custom FFmpeg output, and have VLC cast that input. Latency would be pretty bad though.
I just finished creating the first version an OBS plugin to stream to chromecasts directly: https://github.com/dasimmet/zobscast/releases
It's still a bit rough and not as well integrated as it should be, I chose to write it in zig with heavy LLM assistance. Also I am only able to test it on amd64 linux, but it crosscompiles for windows and macos. Feel free to try it, i appreciate any feedback.
