Chromecast streaming

Hello!

I didn't find any threads about this. As the title says it would be great if OBS could include local streaming to Chromecast devices.

Why?
  • Showing friends and family what you're playing
  • If the chromecast is connected to a media center you can record your footage with that device
  • If you're hosting an event of some sort, it will make setting up audience screens much easier
  • Surveillance (Computer with all cameras open being streamed to a TV/Monitor)
There's probably more this could be used to, I'd love to hear your ideas.
The Chromecast API is open for everyone to use. Some feedback from the developers would be great!

Thanks for reading

OBS streams via RTMP to an RMTP server. If you have an RTMP server and an RTMP viewer for Chromecast, then you should be able to do this. You can't stream directly from OBS to a destination.

Hmm, couldn't it be done like a capturecard?

Since you can capture the desktop with chromecast and send to tv, why not be able to stream from 1st computer "Game computer" to the 2nd computer "stream-Computer"?

To use a two-pc setup to stream is as of now quite hard to get working and setting up with nginx.

I have as of now not been doing "2-pc setup streaming" even tho i have two good computers since i felt like its to much of work setting it up using commands to get a rtmp server. I would however if it was more like "plug N play" with chromecast, just plugin chromecast in computer 2 and send from obs from computer 1.
